What is Agtoberfest?

Agtoberfest is a family-oriented  event designed to educate the community about the ever-changing fields of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The Honorary Fraternity of Alpha Zeta is an honor society, but it is also a brotherhood of service.  Our members strive to serve the community and the university through various service activities and sponsored-events.  Agtoberfest is Alpha Zeta's annual fall event where clubs, organizations, and businesses related to the fields of agriculture, life sciences, and natural resources are brought together to help exhibit the diversity and importance of agriculture to the university and to the general public.

Other Virginia Tech student organizations are invited to participate by (a)  setting up displays exhibiting the purposes and activities of their group and (b)  arranging a carnival-type game, contest, or activity in which visitors can take part.  This event is viewed as a simple way to bring these clubs together to help achieve common goals and to facilitate their own individual group cohesiveness.  Equally important, Agtoberfest is an occasion that the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as well as the College of Natural Resources can take pride in, because it brings their students together to produce a fun and educational form of positive publicity for the community and for the university.

It is an entirely student-run event, financed primarily by the Fraternity.  Partial support is provided through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and by the sponsorship of local businesses.
